Like the composer’s ‘Venezia’, ‘Palazzo Vecchio’ (named after the famous Florentine palace) was inspired by and written in homage to the great composers of the Italian baroque. The piece is playable in the first position throughout and the repeat in the first movement is optional. The final movement is built around the harmony and bass line of the widely used and reworked 'La Folia'. The PDF also contains parts for violin III (doubling that of the viola) and contrabass.
